Probe my Administration to Checkmate – Governor Uzodinma

Published

on

Imo state governor Senator Hope Uzodinma, has publicly said that anyone who will succeed him is free probe his administration to checkmate if he steals the state’s patrimony, NairaGists gathered.

Governor Hope Uzodinma said governance is about transparency and that is what he has come to offer to Imo people and not to steal their money.

He said this while addressing a cross section of Imo stakeholders on Saturday at the Eze Imo palace in Owerri, the state’s capital.

According to Hope Uzodinma, “I have come to serve Imo people and not to steal their money.

“I have said it time without number that I would like my successor to probe my administration if I leave office.

“If I have any intention of looting Imo common patrimony, I would not have taken some of policies geared towards recovering looted funds from the past administrations.

“Let me make it abundantly clear that I will stop at nothing in recovering all Imo wealth and property forcefully converted to personal ownership by top political leaders in the state.

“In the last couple of weeks, recoveries had been made on stolen lands, buildings and assets, which were fraudulently converted to personal use by the past administration.

“Among the recovered was the former Eastern Palm University which was renamed K. O Mbadiwe University.

“You will agree with me that it was the unveiling of the white paper reports on lands that heightened insecurity in the state. We won’t go back in carrying out the report on the white paper.

“Because we want to restore sanity in governance, we have made frantic efforts to deliver to our campaign promises anchored on Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.

“Anyone found wanton in the area of stealing or embezzling the people money, will be shown the way out.

“Note that as I recover Imo properties converted to personal ownership by those who have political power, back to Imo people, the same awaits me when I leave office. This is why I want to reiterate before that I did not become governor to be richer than the state after my tenure, but to serve you in truth and with fear of God,” he said
Among the stakeholders that attended the meeting are the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prof. George Obiozor; Elderstatesman Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu; former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim; Senator representing Imo North senatorial district, Frank Ibezim; Chike Okafor who is representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency; former presidential candidate of APGA, Jerry Chukwueke. Published

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege

Nigeria Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has assured Nigerians that the 9th National Assembly will ensure that Nigeria women voices must be heard more than ever before.

This, he reiterated that will be achieved by expanding the political space for women in the ongoing amendment of the 1999 Constitution.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who chairs the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution Review, stated this in Abuja when he hosted a group, Centa for Organisational Development (COD) – a consortium of gender-based organisations under the aegis of SDG National Multi-Sector Group in Nigeria.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Otive Igbuzor, Senator Omo-Agege noted that since women represent 58 per cent of the Nigerian population, their voices must be heard.

He, therefore, urged them to take advantage of their numerical strength during elections.

The Delta Central lawmaker explained that his desire to expand the political space for women informed his decision to sponsor a constitution alteration bill that seeks to reserve 40 per cent of cabinet appointments for women.

He assured that the National Assembly was committed to greater women and youth involvement in public governance in Nigeria through creative legislative interventions.

According to him: “There is the need to drive inclusion and inclusive governance in both the Legislative and the Executive Arms of Government. This is a necessary step to achieving gender equality and full democratic governance.

Because women represent more than half of the Nigerian population and the youths are the most energetic and dynamic segment of our society, I do not doubt that with many more of them participating in the decisions that shape our lives, they would pave the way for a more just, equitable, and peaceful society.

The Ninth National Assembly is championing the removal of clogs hampering the actualization of a comprehensive self-development of women and youths through legislative interventions.

Earlier, the Leader of the group, Lady Lilian Okoro, said the visit was to partner with the office of the DSP on the forthcoming International Day of the Girl Child celebrated globally on October 11.

Lady Okoro explained that the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Digital Generation; Our Generation’ is geared towards equipping the girl-child with the relevant digital technology knowledge and skills as well as making them digitally savvy in the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets and the social media.

Specifically, she expressed the desire of the organisation to partner with the office towards hosting a National Digital Bootcamp for Nigerian girls as part of events marking the day.

Former Nigeria President Obasanjo with PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus

Press Briefing of former President of Nigeria, Obasanjo After Meeting with PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus.

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo is a person who believes strongly in the future of Nigeria, and he is often quick to seize every opportunity to reiterate that. Yesterday after the meeting with PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus, he affirmed that again.

The PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus has been in the media for some weeks now. He recently survived a plot by some aggrieved members of PDP to remove him from office as the national chairman of the party. While talking about his meeting with Nigeria former President Obasanjo, he said that he is happy about the visit and that the advice of elders is needed to move the country forward.

While briefing newsmen after the meeting which was held at Abeokuta, Ogun State, Obasanjo said that the reason Secondus visited him was to discuss the state of the country with him.

He also made some interesting comments about the country which reaffirmed that he is a strong believer in the future of Nigeria, and in this article, we are going to look at two of those key things he said.

• He said that the development of Nigeria should be of great importance to anyone who loves Nigeria.

Obasanjo couldn’t have put it in a better way, because when people love their country, they would be concerned about its development, and would do everything within their power to contribute to its development.

• Obasanjo also said that although the situation in Nigeria may seem bad, it is not hopeless.

In recent years, Nigeria has been rocked by serious challenges bordering on insecurity, economic instability, among others. Some people have given up hope on the country, and some are scrambling to find their way out of Nigeria for greener pastures abroad. But Obasanjo reiterated that all hope is not lost for the country and that the situation can still be salvaged.

Such a statement could only come from someone who is a strong believer in the destiny of his country.

Former President of Nigeria, Obasanjo statement should be an advice to every Nigerian, that complaining about the situation of the country may not change anything, but what we need to do is to join hands together to make Nigeria a better place for all of us. When the right things are done, the change we seek will be achieved.
