Nigerian Red Cross Join Forces with NEMA to Fight Flooding

Nigerian Red Cross Participates in NEMA Flood Sensitization with along side with other major Stakeholders, in Benin City.

As part of efforts to create awareness on the recent predictions by NiMet and NIHSA on 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction. The National Emergency Management Agency issued warning alert on impending flooding across the country. The NEMA Edo Head of Operations Mr. Dahiru Yusuf led Red Cross officials and other stakeholders in the sensitization of Eweka-Uwelu Community in Egor LGA of Edo State. Egor community is one of the communities in Benin City that is prone to flooding.

According to information made available by the Branch Communication Coordinator Mr Oghenetejiri Ovwigho-Ugbede, the team sensitized the community on Flood Preparedness, Mitigation and Response. They also demonstrated search and rescue techniques during flooding.

The Red Cross team was led by the Branch Disaster Management Coordinator, Mr Christian Ndukwu
