Nigeria Association of women Journalists (NAWOJ) Federal Capital Territory chapter, has condoled with the Nigeria Airforce and the Arotile family over the sudden demise of their daughter, Nigeria Air force first female combat helicopter pilot, Ms Tolulope Arotile who died as a result of head injuries sustained in a road accident at the Air force base in Kaduna.
The speech given by Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene who is the current chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, described the death of Miss Tolupe Arotile as tragic, shocking and painful loss to all Nigerians, especially the family of Arotile.
Miss Tolupe Arotile, was a great vessel in the fight against banditry and insurgency in the north, she worked tirelessly as a fighter pilot and forged new ground for Nigerian women in reinforcing the saying that what a man can do,a woman can do very much better.
“She will be surely missed even though she left her footprints in the sands of time,” she said.
The Nigerian Association Of Women Journalists Chairperson also described late Miss Tolupe Arotile as a girl who at an early age has cut a niche for herself and positively impacted the world through her God given potentials skills.
“Being the first female combat helicopter pilot, is a feat that has inspired many. Her bravery in her field is commendable, Ms Arotile was a trailblazer and her sudden passing is a tragic and painful loss for all patriotic Nigerians. NAWOJ FCT also prays for the repose of the gentle soul of Ms Arotile to rest in the bosom of the lord,” Esene added.
The Late Ms Tolulope was officially commissioned into NAF in September 2017 as member of Nigeria Defence Academy Regular Course 64 and later became the first ever female combat helicopter pilot in the service.
