Katsina State government has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with an Indian company so as to reactivate NEEMPRO Fertilizer Company in the state.
Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Mukthar Abdulkadir, who announced this during the signing of the MOU ceremony at the conference hall of the Ministry, said this is necessary as part of efforts to boost the IGR of the state.
Abdulkadir hinted that the MOU will not only help to diversify the economy of the state which is largely dependent on Federal allocations, it will also assist in creating job opportunities for the teeming youths in the state.
The NEEMPRO industry is one out of the six other industries to be reactivated by the present administration of Katsina state Government with a view to put the state on the map of business hubs in the country, Africa, and the world at large.
In a remark, the Managing Director of the Indian company, Thomas Chackunkal, said apart from revamping the industry, his company will also go into different areas of the NEEM seeds and plant aimed at making Katsina an organic hub.
The NEEMRO industry was first commissioned in the year 2007, but went into moribund same year after working for few month.
