Inter Religious Council Condemn Ungodly Killing and Destruction of Farmlands in Plateau

The Plateau Inter Religious Council (IRC) has condemned the recent killings and wanton destruction of farmlands, houses and other properties in parts of the state.

The Council in a statement on Friday in Jos by its co- chairmen, Rev. Pandang Yamsat and Alhaji Muhammadu Haruna, described the killings as “ungodly and inhuman.”

Yamset is a former President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) while Haruna is the current Emir of Wase and Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in the state.

According to Plateau Inter Religious Council, the trend of killing and destruction of farmlands, houses is a negation of the teachings of both Islam and Christianity which most Nigerians adhered to, saying it had become a threat to humanity.

“The Inter Religious Council consisting of leaders of the various Christian and Islamic faiths on the Plateau expresses deep shock, sadness and total condemnation over the unnecessary attacks and wanton destruction of lives, farm crops, and the razing down of houses in Bassa, Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of the state.

“This carnage and blood-letting is a total negation of the teachings of Islam and Christianity; it is not only ungodly and inhuman but poses serious threat to human lives, food security, economic and social progress of the state and the nation at large.

“As spiritual fathers, we are appealing to all involved in the perpetration of these heinous crimes to have a rethink and return to the virtues of tolerance and dialogue with one another, restitution, reconciliation and forgiveness, as clearly taught by the holy scriptures

“It is clear that violence has never, and will never solve our problems. Instead, love, dialogue, mutual understanding, empathy and tolerance are the only possible means of addressing underlying conflict and perhaps the growing insecurity in our land,”the council said.

The Inter Religious Council further advised residents to eschew violence, embrace peace at all times and avoid being used as tools by merchant of crisis.

It also called on government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward ending the circle of violence in the state.

“We urge our people to recognize our common and shared humanity and to learn to live peacefully with one another.

” We must do our best to avoid being used as tools in the hands of mischief makers, however highly placed in or outside the country.

” We call on government and security agencies to intensify their efforts to restore Peace and Security of all citizens, particularly in vulnerable communities in Bassa”, it urged.

Emma Eregarnoma invited his mother, Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, to his house on Caroline Street, Okuokoko after he persuaded her that he had a surprise package for her.

On getting there, she said she saw Emma in an unusual joyous mood, after he welcomed her in. He then increased the volume of his musical gadgets. Oke alleged that her son suddenly locked the door and made moves to strangle and pluck off her eyes, just as she screamed for help, adding that no one heard her due to the loud music.

She said after fighting with his son for some minutes she regained her strength and ran outside for help, while neighbours came to her rescue.

Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, while narrating her ordeal to journalists on a hospital bed where she was recuperating, recalled that before the attack, her son boasted that “he must drive GLK this week.

The suspect was consequently apprehended and taken to the police station. Emma was detained at the Orerokpe divisional police headquarters in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State over the incident, which occurred on Tuesday in Okuokoko community near Warri.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in custody.

Ex-NIS Officer Arraigned over Certificate Forgery

A retired Chief Superintendent of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Imam Aminu, has been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), over alleged forgery of academic certificates.

The Commission, in a 4-count charge brought before Honourable Justice A.O. Abong of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court 18, sitting in Gwagwalada, Abuja averred that the accused person had forged a National Diploma Certificate in Public Administration from the Kaduna State Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the University of Calabar.

ICPC counsel, Mashkur Salisu Esq, informed the court of how the defendant had used the aforementioned forged certificates to enlist into NIS as well as advanced his career to the rank of a Chief Superintendent.

ICPC in a Charge No: CR/821/2021 told the court that the former Immigration Officer’s action was contrary to Section 364 of the Penal Code, and if he is found guilty, he shall be liable to a prison term of not less than 14 years.

When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the four counts. The prosecution counsel thereafter asked for a date for hearing and for the accused to be remanded in Kuje prison pending hearing. Counsel to the defendant however moved the bail application in favour of the accused.

The trial Court thereafter granted Mr. Aminu bail in the sum of N500,000.00 and a surety in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court. He was also ordered to deposit his travel documents at the court’s registry.

The case has been adjourned to the 9th of November 2021 for commencement of trial.

New Revelations On Why Nigerian Lady Was Killed By Her Italian Husband In Italy.

More revelations have surfaced on why Italian based 31 years old Nigerian lady Rita Amenze was killed by her 61-year-old Italian husband Pierangelo Pellizzar

It will be recalled that Rita was shot 4 times while she was stepping out of her office

A very reliable source in Italy who pleaded on condition of anonymity made some startling revelations on the incident

According to her, Rita came to Italy in 2017 as an illegal immigrant and was rescued at the sea and taken to a refugee camp

In 2018 Pierangelo Pellizzar met her, married her and took her out of the refugee camp.

Not too long after, she was granted citizenship (the Italian passport) which enabled her get a good job.

Meanwhile, before moving to Italy, she already had 3 kids back home in Nigeria.

Recently, she travelled to Nigeria and got married to the father of her three kids

Before she returned, her best friend went and revealed to the white man that his wife is cheating on him and has gotten married in Nigeria to the father of her children.

She told the white man that he should watch out because as soon Rita returns, she would file for a divorce.

And that was what Rita actually did, she filed for a divorce as soon as she returned. She planned to divorce the white man and relocate her Nigerian husband and children to Italy.

Her Italian husband would not hear of it. But all attempts to convince her to change her mind were rebuffed.

On the day of the crime, he traced her to her office, shot her four times in front of her colleagues before handing himself over to the police.

Investigations showed that he is a drug addict who has been in and out of jail severally.

He has pleaded that he was emotionally disturbed and depressed by the behavior of Rita which led to his action

Pierangelo Pellizzar was previously banned from acquiring firearms, but it was not clear how he was able to lay his hands on the gun he used in killing Rita Amenze

The Nigerian Ambassador to Italy, the Nigerian Community in Italy as well as the Executive Chairman of Nigerian Diaspora Commission Hon Abike Dabiri Erewa have called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
