Waheed spoke at an event where Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Osagie Ebomwonyi, took  Governor Godwin Obaseki on a tour of the state’s infectious disease isolation centre located in the hospital.

Ebomwonyi said though the confirmed NYSC cases were not among persons  vaccinated, the hospital was conducting studies and analysis to find out if there was the Delta variant of Coronavirus  in the state.

Edo state Governor Obaseki, however, assured of the readiness of the government to deal effectively with the Delta variant, saying  there was no confirmed case of the deadly variant of the virus in the state.

“We are beginning to see an increasing number of cases of the Delta variant in the country; this has become worrisome, hence the need to undertake a thorough analysis and study of the situation and use the data and information collected to make decisions. One of the decisions to be made is the nature and preparation of facilities to receive patients for treatment in case we find ourselves in a difficult situation. The Delta variant is very contagious and spreads very wide, with a greater impact on those that are yet to be vaccinated.

“We are here at this centre to check the readiness of the facilities and the availability of oxygen, as well as ensure that we have all it takes to move 100 patients for treatment,” the governor said.

He disclosed that as part of effort to vaccinate more Edo people in order to protect them from the deadly virus, he spoke with the National Primary Healthcare Agency last week on the issue.

Igbo are in Charge of Economy in Nigeria – President Buhari

Published

on

President Buhari has stated that the Igbo are in charge of economy in Nigeria, this was made known via his verified Facebook page while thanking Imo state for their warm reception they gave him during his commissioning visit.

In his words he wrote: I thank the Government and people of Imo State for the very warm reception accorded me during my visit yesterday. It was a pleasure to visit Imo State and to be hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

I was pleased to see and commission his impactful infrastructure projects, and to note that he is giving infrastructure the same kind of priority that we are giving it at the Federal level.

I firmly believe that when you get infrastructure right, Nigerians will mind their own businesses. And the Igbos will especially benefit from this ongoing infrastructure revolution, because, as a group, they are truly the most enterprising.

There is no town you will visit in Nigeria without seeing the Igbos being in-charge of economic activities. The evidence is there for everyone to see, that Igbos are in charge of Nigeria’s economy.

It is therefore unthinkable for me that any Igbo man would consider himself not to be a part of Nigeria.

Let me again say that I was very pleased with what I saw in Imo State, and I would like to assure that I will support Imo State and the entire region within the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Federal Government will complete all ongoing key projects in the South East, including the 2nd Niger Bridge, and other major highways, as well as the railway lines and routes linking the region with other parts of the country.

This have however spark several reactions on social media with some in support of some of his words while others are against it.
